Step 1

You Are a New Creation

The new birth is not self-improvement — it is a genuine spiritual transformation. You have been born of the Spirit and given new life in Christ.

"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."

2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV

Reflection Questions

1. What does it mean to you personally that you are a 'new creature' in Christ?

2. What has already begun to feel different since you began following Jesus?

Prayer Prompt

Thank God for making you new. Ask Him to make that newness real in your daily life, not just in your understanding.

Pastoral Note

Don't be discouraged if the 'old things' don't feel fully gone yet. Transformation is real but progressive. Talk to your pastor if you have questions.

Notes

Step 2

What Is Repentance?

Repentance is a turning — away from sin and toward God. It is not self-punishment, not perfectionism, and not earning forgiveness. It is a change of mind and direction made possible by God's grace.

"Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord."

Acts 3:19 KJV

Recommended Platform Page

Reflection Questions

1. What is the difference between feeling bad about sin and genuinely turning from it?

2. Is there something in your life right now that you feel God is asking you to turn away from?

Prayer Prompt

Ask God to give you a clear sense of what repentance means in your specific situation — and the grace to respond.

Pastoral Note

Repentance is ongoing — it is part of daily Christian life, not just a one-time event. Your pastor can help you understand this more fully.

Notes

Step 3

Salvation by Grace Through Faith

You did not earn salvation and cannot maintain it through works. It is God's gift — received through faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ.

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."

Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV

Recommended Platform Page

Reflection Questions

1. Have you ever felt like you had to earn God's acceptance? How does grace change that?

2. What does it mean to trust in Christ's finished work rather than your own performance?

Prayer Prompt

Ask God to help you rest in His grace — to receive what He has done for you without adding your own effort to it.

Pastoral Note

If you find yourself exhausted by trying to 'stay saved' through behavior, speak with your pastor. Grace is not license — but it is rest.

Notes

Step 4

Reading the Bible

Scripture is the foundation of Christian life. It is not just a devotional book — it is God speaking to you. Regular reading of the Bible is one of the most important practices of a new believer.

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works."

2 Timothy 3:16-17 KJV

Recommended Platform Page

Reflection Questions

1. Are you reading the Bible regularly? If not, what is the biggest obstacle?

2. What is one thing from Scripture that has stood out to you since you began following Christ?

Prayer Prompt

Ask God to open your understanding as you read His Word — to make it come alive, not just inform.

Pastoral Note

Start with the Gospel of John. Your church may have a reading plan — ask your pastor for a recommendation.

Notes

Step 5

Learning to Pray

Prayer is conversation with God. It is not a performance or a formula. New believers sometimes feel they don't know how to pray — but prayer grows through doing it, not through mastering it first.

"After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name."

Matthew 6:9 KJV

Recommended Platform Page

Reflection Questions

1. How would you describe your prayer life right now — and how would you like it to grow?

2. What makes you hesitant in prayer — and what do you think God says about that hesitation?

Prayer Prompt

Spend a few minutes in honest conversation with God. You don't need perfect words. Just speak.

Pastoral Note

The disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray (Luke 11:1). It's always appropriate to ask your pastor or a mature believer to teach you more.

Notes

Step 6

The Holy Spirit in Your Life

The Holy Spirit lives in every born-again believer. He convicts, guides, comforts, and produces fruit in you. You are not alone in the Christian life.

"But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you."

John 14:26 KJV

Recommended Platform Page

Reflection Questions

1. Have you experienced the Holy Spirit's conviction, comfort, or guidance? What did that look like?

2. What would it mean practically to be 'led by the Spirit' in your daily decisions?

Prayer Prompt

Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you, guide you, and make you sensitive to His voice in ordinary moments.

Pastoral Note

There is much teaching about the Holy Spirit — some of it accurate, some confused. Trust your pastor to guide you through what Scripture teaches.

Notes

Step 7

Connecting with a Local Church

A new believer needs community. The local church is not optional — it is where you grow, serve, receive correction, find friendship, and are known by name. You cannot grow alone.

"Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching."

Hebrews 10:25 KJV

Recommended Platform Page

Reflection Questions

1. Are you connected to a local church? If not, what is keeping you from taking that step?

2. What does it look like to be genuinely known by a church community — not just attending?

Prayer Prompt

Ask God to lead you to the right local church — and to give you the courage to be known, not just present.

Pastoral Note

If you need help finding a church, ask the person who shared the gospel with you or who is discipling you. This step is important.

Notes

Step 8

Understanding Temptation and the Old Nature

Temptation is not sin — giving in to it is. New believers often feel surprised by how much the old nature still rises after conversion. This is normal. The Spirit and the flesh are in conflict — and the Spirit gives you the power to choose differently.

"There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."

1 Corinthians 10:13 KJV

Recommended Platform Page

Reflection Questions

1. What temptations have surprised you since becoming a Christian?

2. What does it mean that God 'makes a way of escape' — and have you experienced that?

Prayer Prompt

Ask God to make you alert to temptation and to help you take the way of escape He provides.

Pastoral Note

If a specific sin pattern is dominating your life, speak to your pastor. Accountability and pastoral care make a real difference.

Notes

Step 9

Forgiveness — Receiving It and Giving It

God's forgiveness is complete. Many new believers struggle to receive it fully — and even more struggle to extend it to others. Both are essential to living in the freedom of new life.

"Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye."

Colossians 3:13 KJV

Recommended Platform Page

Reflection Questions

1. Is there something you've asked God to forgive that you haven't yet received forgiveness for in your own heart?

2. Is there someone in your life you know you need to forgive — and what makes that hard?

Prayer Prompt

Ask God to help you receive His forgiveness completely — and to give you the grace to extend it to others.

Pastoral Note

Forgiveness does not always mean reconciliation or resuming a relationship. Talk to your pastor before attempting reconciliation in situations involving abuse or danger.

Notes

Step 10

Growing and Not Giving Up

The Christian life is a journey — not a performance. You will stumble. You will have dry seasons. The goal is not perfection but faithfulness. God who began a good work in you is committed to finishing it.

"Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ."

Philippians 1:6 KJV

Recommended Platform Page

Reflection Questions

1. What has been the hardest part of the Christian life for you so far?

2. What gives you confidence that God has not given up on you — even in your hardest moments?

Prayer Prompt

Thank God that He finishes what He starts — and ask Him to keep you faithful, not just excited.

Pastoral Note

If you feel like giving up, tell your pastor. Spiritual dry seasons are real, and you don't have to navigate them alone.
