When You Are Under Peer Pressure
People-pleasing, compromise, courage, identity, and fearing God more than man.
"The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe."
Proverbs 29:25 KJV
Learning Objectives
You'll Recognize
When the desire to belong, be accepted, or avoid rejection tempts the heart to go along with what is spiritually wrong, unwise, or compromising.
This Exposes
The fear of man that becomes a snare; the idol of approval and belonging; and the confusion between courage and cruelty.
Born-Again Response
That fearing God is freedom from the fear of man; that humble refusal of compromise is possible without harshness; and that Daniel 3 shows the cost and the faithfulness of standing when others will not.
Fruit Being Practiced
Temperance, Faith, Goodness
Scripture Anchor
Proverbs 29:25 KJV — The fear of man is a snare. Galatians 1:10 KJV — Pleasing men is not serving Christ.
"People around you pressure you to go along with something you know is wrong, unwise, or spiritually compromising. It may be friends, coworkers, classmates, family, ministry peers, or online voices. The flesh wants acceptance, approval, and belonging at any cost. Scripture calls the born-again believer to fear God more than man and stand with humble courage."
What Happened
People around you are pressuring you to compromise what you know is right.
Why This Pressures
The desire to belong and be accepted is real and human. When rejection is the cost of standing, the flesh calculates that belonging is worth the compromise.
Spiritual Issue Exposed
Whether God's approval or people's approval governs the heart; whether the fear of man has become a snare; whether belonging has been set above obedience.
