Opening Scriptures

James 1:19-20 KJV

"Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God."

Read aloud before any discussion begins. Let it set the tone.

Galatians 5:16 KJV

"This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh."

The central tension examined in every simulator — flesh vs. Spirit.

3

Group Covenant — Read With Your Group

Read or display these commitments with your group before the session begins.

Let Scripture lead — not personal opinion, tradition, or emotion alone.

No forced sharing — participation in discussion is voluntary.

No shaming or judging participants based on honest reflection.

Respect confidentiality — follow your church's safeguarding and privacy policies.

No unsafe secrecy — if someone is in danger, safety comes before confidentiality.

Leaders will follow their church's safeguarding policies at all times.

What we share in this space stays in this space, unless safety requires otherwise.

4

Session Flow

1

Opening Prayer — ask the Holy Spirit to guard the session and open hearts.

2

Read the session's chosen KJV Scripture aloud together.

3

Leader gives the teaching point — 2–3 minutes, no longer.

4

Open the chosen simulator. Read the scenario aloud clearly.

5

Pause — ask: 'What is the first feeling that rises when you hear this scenario?'

6

Identify the Old Man response, the False Religion response, and the Word of God response.

7

Discuss the fruit of the Spirit needed in this moment.

8

Allow 3–5 minutes of private, written reflection. No sharing required.

9

Offer discussion questions to the group. No pressure to speak.

10

Closing prayer — for repentance where needed, for growth, and for one another.

11

Point to one next step: a reading, a discipleship page, or the Altar Call Pathway if conviction is present.

5

Discussion Questions

Q1

What did the scenario reveal about what rises up inside when life puts pressure on the heart?

Q2

What did the old man (flesh) want to do in this moment?

Q3

What did false religion suggest was the 'right' response?

Q4

What did the Word of God say that corrected both?

Q5

What fruit of the Spirit is most needed in this situation?

Q6

What is the difference between feeling bad and genuine repentance?

Q7

What would wisdom and healthy boundaries look like in this scenario?

Q8

What has God been teaching you through this kind of pressure point?

Q9

What does it mean to 'walk in the Spirit and not fulfil the lust of the flesh' in real, everyday life?

Q10

Is there anything you want to bring before God in prayer from what you saw today?

Q11

What Scripture would you want to carry with you this week from today's session?

Q12

Where do you need God's grace most right now in the area we discussed?

6

Private Reflection Prompts

Give participants 3–5 minutes to write quietly. These prompts are personal — not for public sharing unless they choose.

What did this scenario reveal about my own heart — honestly, before God?

Reflect 2

What did I choose in the simulator, and why? What does that reveal?

Reflect 3

What Scripture from this session speaks most clearly to where I am right now?

Reflect 4

What do I need to repent of, lay down, or bring to God from what I saw today?

What is one practical way I want to respond differently, by God's grace, the next time I face this?

Reflect 6

What is God saying to me — personally — through today's session?
